Mercedes-Benz has confirmed the CLS' new 53 variants and hinted at more 53s coming later in the E-class family. All AMG 53 models will be powered by a higher-output version of parent Daimler's new turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine with a 48-volt electrical system. AMG 53 variants for the E-class coupe and convertible are possible, and the GLE midsize crossover is another candidate for a 53 model. The GLE will be redesigned in 2018 with a likely U.S. on-sale date in early 2019. The AMG model would come after that. The latest generation of the E63 and the E63 S sees Mercedes-AMG introducing a number of new developments that redef ... read more
