Yes, Mercedes Built a Truck

Mercedes really knows how to keep us waiting. The X class will go on sale in Europe in November, in South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand early next year and in Argentina and Brazil in 2019. Mercedes-Benz said pickups are moving upmarket, just like SUVs have done. “SUVs are elegant lifestyle products with a high-quality finish to them. Not every customer takes them into the wilderness anymore. We believe pickups could go in a similar direction,” Vans boss Volker Mornhinweg told Automotive News Europe. Daimler hopes the new Mercedes-Benz X class will be a game-changer for its light commercial vehicles division, giving the business a more diversified sales footprint by entering the booming global segment of midsize pickups. The pickup aims to tap into surging demand for vehicles capable of transporting one-ton payloads and towing an additional 3.5 tons. Mercedes forecasts volumes for this type of truck will grow by nearly half to 3 million vehicles ... read more

New Straight-Six Engine and 48-Volt Electrical System

The Mercedes-AMG CLS53 will go on sale in the U.S. by the end of 2018, kicking off a new line in the AMG performance stable. Mercedes-Benz has confirmed the CLS' new 53 variants and hinted at more 53s coming later in the E-class family. All AMG 53 models will be powered by a higher-output version of parent Daimler's new turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine with a 48-volt electrical system. With the new 53 line, the CLS family will no longer have a top-of-the-line AMG 63 model but will be replaced by a new four-door AMG GT car based on the Mercedes-AMG GT concept that debuted at the Geneva auto show this year. AMG 53 variants for the E-class coupe and convertible are possible, and the GLE midsize crossover is another candidate for a 53 model. The GLE will be redesigned in 2018 with a likely U.S. on-sale date in early 2019. The AMG model would come after that. The latest generation of the E63 and the E63 S sees Mercedes-AMG introducing a number of new developments that redef ... read more

Celebrating 50 Years of Mercedes Success

It's no secret that we love the Mercedes-Benz brand. In Santa Rosa, we're known as Mercedes experts, and it's not just because of the shop. We keep up. Lately, we've decided to start sharing some of the most interesting news we can about the brand, as well as brag a little bit about how much we know about it. As a company that has made Santa Rosa its home for the last 30 years, our hearts go out to the people in our community that share the same love of the brand as we do. An oldie, but a goodie from the Mercedes site, we were reminiscing about some of the shows we've been to and came across this old article from '14. We work on all models of Mercedes-Benz, and seeing the old-school models that we don't get as often as their newer counterparts, had us start thinking about how far the brand has come. Being a Mercedes-Benz shop in Santa Rosa that has been around for the last three decades, has blessed us with the opportunity to see many a model slide through our doors.
