Six Generations of Ingenuity Mercedes-Benz S Class

The Mercedes-Benz S Class, or Sonderklasse (German for “special class,” abbrev. “S-Klasse”) is a series of leading luxury vehicles introduced to the industry in 1972 with the W116. Since 1972, the Mercedes-Benz S Class has been at the forefront of luxury car production.

The Mercedes-Benz S Class introduced the first seatbelt pretensioners (a device designed to pull a seat belt tight in an accident), drivetrain technology, advanced interior features and comes in both standard and long-wheelbase varieties. Since its inception, the Mercedes-Benz “S-Klasse” sedans have produced six generations, including a two-door couple model (SEC) and then later, the S-Coupe in a separate line known as the CL-Class. In short, six generations of “S-Klasse” models have shaped six generations of restructured, advanced technology and safety features every year they are made. Luckily, CK Auto Exclusive has been working in the Mercedes-Benz industry since 1977 – and we've pretty much seen it all.

The Mercedes-Benz S Class does not have many problems, but common issues in this class include rusting, check engine lights, computer diagnostic issues, breaks (thin padding), engine mounts and issues with suspension and AirMatic components.

At CK Auto Exclusive not only do we specialize in all around S Class Service, but transmissions, computer diagnostics, engine rebuilds and check engine lights are just a few of our Mercedes-Benz repair specialties in the Santa Rosa, Petaluma and Healdsburg areas. Contact us today for your Mercedes-Benz S Class repairs!
